A compact studio in Amsterdam-West where recording, mixing and scheduling meet — without hidden fees or endless waiting lists.
How Neustonorix began
Neustonorix opened in 2019 when Femke van der Meulen wanted a place where bands and solo artists get the same care. We fitted a corner building on Overtoom with three rooms tuned to each other: play, sing and decide on takes.
We are not a label or management; we deliver recording, mixing, mastering and production. You keep your repertoire; we handle technique and files you can work with.
The rooms
Live room — 38 m²
Tall enough for drums, wide enough for up to 5 players at once. Everyone gets an individual headphone mix from our 6 sends.
Booth — 8 m²
Isolated booth for vocals, rap, voice-over and podcast. Pop filter and cue mix are ready; you set tempo and pitch.
Control room — 22 m²
Symmetrical treatment with sight lines to hall and booth. We listen critically here before marking takes as keepers.
Gear and workflow
We run 12 analogue preamps and fixed tie lines between hall and desk. Microphone choice depends on your voice or instrument — we describe roles (condenser, dynamic, ribbon) rather than brand lists.
Mixing and mastering happen in the same control room or offline, with 2 revision rounds included on mixing and mastering. See services for detail per line of work.
Getting here
Overtoom 282, 1054 GZ Amsterdam. Tram 1 to Surinameplein, then about four minutes on foot via Overtoom; bus 15 stops on Overtoom. Bike rack outside; on-street car parking nearby (paid, evening rate). The entrance is at street level; tell us if you need extra time carrying gear inside.
